Made with multiple wood species, this end grain cutting board is one of a kind. The many different wood species in this board gives it variety in tone and color. The walnut border adds to the rich and deep colors and completes this work of art. End grain cutting boards are not only beautiful, they are also less likely to dull your knives and will last a long time if properly cared for. This cutting board is a perfect and memorable gift for any occasion.
I achieved a chaotic pattern by cutting and gluing many different width boards of different species over and over again. I change the angle of the cut each time to make the pattern even more chaotic. Once the desired pattern is reached it was then framed with walnut. I then use a router to create the finger grooves and soften the edges. Then the sanding process starts! After sanding with multiple grits until smooth, it is then soaked in food grade mineral oil for 24 hours and then sealed with multiple coats of a food grade mineral oil/beeswax mix. This board is then completed with food safe rubber feet attached with stainless steel screws.
This board has a finished size of 11" x 11 3/8" x 1 1/2" (including feet). It has finger grooves on the 11" sides.
Clean after each use. Hand wash only. Avoid soap if possible. If soap is used, reapply the mineral oil/beeswax coating. Do not put in the dishwasher. We prefer to pat dry our cutting boards after each cleaning then allow it to finish drying in open air before putting it away. (Or keep it out on your counter for a great conversation piece!)
