My hats are made with squishy soft quality acrylic yarn, I always take into consideration that these hats will be washed and take great care sewing in all my ends so your hat will not fall apart.
Hat measures 4 inches to bottom, Circumference of head is 10 inches ,sizes vary per baby 4-5 pounds .
To get the correct sizing it would be best to measure the circumstance of the head , sometimes when stated Preemie, Newborn, 0-3 months etc. that is what is stated in the pattern.
I always make my hats by using the standard sizing chart this may not apply to all babies
