The trees in this series are inspired by the windswept silhouettes at Fort Phoenix Beach in my hometown of Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Shaped over time by the ocean breeze, they lean gracefully, as if sculpted by the air itself. To me, they are living reminders of the days I spent along that shoreline as a child, and of the countless treasured memories woven into the fabric of this charming coastal town. As a coastal location, Fort Phoenix Beach experiences frequent and strong winds, particularly from the ocean. Trees adapt to constant wind pressure by developing a leaning appearance as they grow, with their trunks curving away from the prevailing wind direction.
Your tree is crafted from Aventurine, a quartz that glimmers with a natural sparkle created by tiny mineral inclusions, often mica. Known as the “stone of luck” Aventurine has long been treasured as a talisman of prosperity and good fortune. Its soft green hue is also linked to growth, renewal, and vitality, echoing the fresh energy of spring. Often connected to the heart chakra, Green Aventurine is believed to encourage emotional healing, compassion, and balance. With its soothing presence and luminous glow, Aventurine is both a stone of opportunity and a gentle reminder of nature’s resilience.

Meet the Maker
I am a retired middle school math teacher, and after 30 years in the classroom, I have moved to my creative side working with beads of all kinds. I was always drawn to the beadwork done by indigenous peoples and others who are so very skilled in this art. I was looking to start something for myself that 1 - Did not involve teaching in a classroom; and 2 - Whatever would become a relaxing, creative outlet for my Pisces soul. My years as a musician allowed me that outlet, but at this point in my life, I needed something different; something I could see and feel, and watch form. I loved playing with snap beads as a child. I spent hours trying to make "jewelry" with different color combinations and never tired of the trial and error. It's much like that for me today. i can get lost in trying new designs and creations of my own. I can also find the work of others to inspire and motivate me, to learn something new from, and delight when someone finds what I create desirable.

How it’s Made
The trees in this series are created using a twisted wire with stone sculpture. Each is mounted on a beautiful agate slice, and the stone chips are individually loaded onto each strand. Each strand is twisted to create the leaf clusters, branches, and tree trunks, then separated again to create the root systems which anchor each tree to the agate slice.
