About this Product
This bowl is made from the root wood of a cherry tree and features an absolute symphony of colors and swirling grain patterns. Cherry wood is prized for its rich orange-brown color, and in root wood this beauty is enriched by the wildly organic mixing of color variations. The wood of this piece also features some small fissures, cracks and divots that are characteristic of root wood. Further complementing that natural beauty is the asymmetrical shape of this piece. Because I use power-carving techniques rather than turning bowls on a lathe, I'm not constrained to round shapes.
About 11 inches (28 cm) in its longest dimension, 7-3/4 inches (20 cm) wide and 2-3/4 inches (7 cm) high. It's finished with an oil-varnish blend.
This bowl could be used to hold fruit, pastries, other food or household items, or kept empty to simply enjoy its beauty. It's a showpiece and a stunning example of just how beautiful wood can be.
