Meet the Maker
Sue is an artist living in the Blue Ridge Mountains of SW Virginia, Salem to be exact. She has painted most of her life and hopes to be painting when she passes. She has dabbled in all the mediums and currently enjoys collage. Preferring to stay indoors, since the heat has gotten so bad, in the autumn or spring she still enjoys plein aire painting.
How it’s Made
I use several methods to add textures with liquitex and golden heavy gels and stencils and found objects. I love to use gelli prints and acrylics in my work.
I usually start with an idea but sometimes I just start putting down colors and see if the painting wants me to add certain elements. Improv is not my strong suit so I look for inspiration every where.
I consider myself to be a contemporary mixed media art. I'm not fond of photo realism but I like it when something looks normal or a bit skewed. Love nature too.
