About this Product
Like many ancient Egyptian deities, Anubis assumes different roles in various contexts. Depicted as a protector of graves as early as the First Dynasty, Anubis is also an embalmer. One of his prominent roles is as a god who usheres souls into the afterlife, and he attends the weighing scale during the "Weighing of the Heart", in which it's determined whether a soul is allowed to enter the realm of the dead. Anubis is one of the most frequently depicted and mentioned gods in the Egyptian pantheon however, no relevant myth actually involves him.
Anubis is depicted in black, a color that symbolizes regeneration, life, the soil of the Nile River, and the discoloration of the corpse after embalming. Anubis is also associated with his brother Wepwawet, another Egyptian god portrayed with a dog's head or in canine form, but with grey or white fur. Historians assume that the two figures were eventually combined. Anubis' female counterpart is Anput, and his daughter is the serpent goddess Kebechet.
Working with him means being death positive, and celebrating the natural cycles of life and death. It's honoring graveyards and gravesites of family and friends, and speaking to the dead with care and respect. It's ancestor work and shadow work. Because the more comfortable you are in and around death, the more comfortable you'll be when it comes time for your own natural death.
This 5 oz deity altar jar is filled with things that represent Anubis, such as Frankincense, cypress, hematite and gold leaf, and has been extensively researched to be the best it can be.
Settling and shifting during shipping can happen, and is normal, but won't impact the jars' meaning.
Jar shape depends on vendor availability, but it'll always be 5 oz.
*Wax color and seal color are completely customizable if you do not like the option presented in the item photos. Just let me know when you purchase!*
