About this Product

Lost wax cast pendant. The moon is sterling silver, patterned with patina to give the appearance of the shadows of the moon, with a crescent of gold that is 18 karat yellow, solder in place and hammer textured. The sun is sterling silver on 99% pure copper. The copper is given a rough finish to help it stand out against the sterling silver. The sterling silver was polished using a radial wheel to a high shine while leaving the radiant star burst patter in the metal. The sterling silver sun was soldered onto the copper.

A simple sterling silver chain is included.

Getting first round of product Posted! Crochet stuff first! And some small painted work from Lihirielle! And then some of my metal cast pendants! And Lihirielle thinks she needs to worry about her not having enough product to meet the generic consignment agreement we used for me to post her stuff up next to mine and this tells me how bad of a fever she had while she was producing all of this stuff for that last show she had to cancel. I will be posting up more between here and Esty the whole of summer and not hit the end of her back stock, so bear with me and my less than stellar photos and photo editing.I also have managed to enable the spell checker. yaaaaaaay. (cries in child of technical writer who realized there were really dumb misspellings up for multiple days)

Meet the Maker

Rosethorn, as she prefers to be called when working a convention floor, has been crocheting and working on strung necklaces for more than 15 years, selling work as a part of her family's business at fairs. After being laid off pre-Pandemic 2020, she went back to school to learn metalsmith jewelry skills. As declining health in the family has caused the family business to close, Rosethorn is breaking out to be her own Jeweler and crafter. While Metal work is fun, crochet is something relaxing that is being included because everyone in the family but the cats are tired of getting crochet pieces.

Lihirielle has been an artist for over 30 years and is accomplished at mixing multiple mediums together to produce beautiful pieces of art. Recent health issues has made it impossible to work in person shows, leaving a magnitude of completed work ready to sell that Rosethorn is now managing online instead of assisting in person.

It will be fairly obvious which pieces Rosethorn made attempting to learn a technique from Lihirielle just from the difference in precision with a paint brush.

Rosethorn plans on posting more videos of her, and Lihirielle (health permitting), going through their making process on the various Moon Lit Rose Crafts social media pages once all of the ready to sell product pictures are taken and edited.

How it’s Made

This labor of love started as a peice of wax. I initially cast both bases in bronze and created wax injection mold that will also serve as the basis for another line of jewelry. After I had the bases cast in the desired metal, I hand pierced the golden moon and silver sun and filed them to fit into the intentionally carved cavities and soldered them in place, along with some silver jumprings to xonnect them. After I complete this task, I patinaed the silver of the moon, textured the gold of the moon with a chasing tool, and polished the sun to catch the light.
