How it’s Made

This goldfish was created for an alphabet series I made that alternated between animals and fruit. This was "F for Fish". It was an image that stuck with me deeply, and I use it for almost all my social media pages and storefronts now. I find it's charming, detailed, and richly textured in its own way.

I've never owned fish, personally. My family had some when I was very young, but they didn't survive long when winter came and the tank froze when we were on vacation... So I have not had much good luck with fish. But the bright positivity of the golden orange scales of this goldfish make me feel optimistic and hopeful. And exuberantly childlike. There's a reason why I use it so much online, because I really love the bright color contrast between the oranges and the teal blues. It speaks to my heart, and perhaps that's why I feel such a strong connection to it.

I created this image entirely digitally, using my 12.9" M1 iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil in the app Procreate. In total the image took 1697 strokes--each painted individually by me-- and 1hr 27 minutes to complete. I print these card sets individually as they are ordered on my own in-studio Canon Pixma Pro-200 printer, which has 8 colors in it for vibrant and rich results. Then I package them up and send them off to you!

Shop Reviews (1)

I purchased a set of waterfall cards from Coreyartus Imagery, but I don’t plan to use them as greetings; I actually purchased them to use in my personal meditation practice. When I saw Corey’s waterfall scenes, I fell in love with their ability to transport me into a different world. They’re even more beautiful in person. I’m really pleased with this purchase as well as the great customer service and thoughtful packaging by Corey. Such a wonderful shop to buy from!
