About this Product

This versatile instrument offers a delightful experience for both beginners and experienced musicians. Featuring eye-catching design, rich Grande sound, and a built-in pickup, it's great musical fun in a compact package.

Perfect for beginning guitarists, the chords learned on this guitar play identically on a standard 6-string guitar. Accomplished guitarists find the tenor guitar ideal for playing lead, for improvisation, and for the occasional musical whimsy. The instrument can also be played as a baritone ukulele. The DGBE tuning works for both instruments and the 21-inch scale is typical of baritone ukes. The deep box brings a new dimension of sound to ukulele tunes. Whether played as a guitar or a ukulele, the main feature is its sound: round, full, satisfying, a rich voice that's uniquely Grande.

TUNING MODES:

1. The basic tuning mode (D-G-B-e) is identical to the four highest pitch strings on a standard six-string guitar. All chords used in this mode will work on a six-string guitar. This tuning is identical to that of a baritone ukulele.

2. By tuning the top string down a step from e to d, the instrument becomes open-tuned (D-G-B-d) in the key of G. This mode makes a chord available on any fret, greatly simplifying play.

Chord charts are included for both tuning modes.

- Box Width 7.4 inches (18.8 cm)

Meet the Maker

"So," the TV host asked, "as a woodworker you could make anything. Why dulcimers?"

"Ah," I replied, "but when I make an instrument, the wood sings to me."

My first instrument sang out in 2015, and the experience changed my life. More than 500 instruments later I still love hearing that first song--the voice of a newborn instrument. Yes, I enjoy designing and building and finishing and tuneup; but it's still the song, the new voice that makes the work meaningful.

That first dulcimer was so easy to play that even I, a 71-year-old non-musician, could play a few songs right away. Success is addictive, and I realized that anyone could learn to make music. So I signed up for some craft fairs and met lots of people who want to play their own songs.

Nowadays I make guitars and the occasional ukulele as well as dulcimers, but the focus hasn't changed. It's still the song.
