About this Product
This variety of agate is found on the border of Idaho and Oregon and is a very beautiful and prized mineral. With this buckle I have taken seven pieces of this agate and accented them with veins of silver. The buckle is formed in my beveled edge design and it measures 3 1/16'' by 2 1/16'' and will accept a belt up to 1 1/2" in width. The stone is supported with my handmade German Silver backing which is signed, dated and has the gemstone identified on the backing also. Please note that German Silver is not a true silver but an alloy comprised of nickle, brass and zinc. I use this for my backing because it is stronger, less expensive and it doesn't tarnish as does silver.

How it’s Made
I have been making my buckles for approximately 45 years. I cut shape and polish all my pieces and fabricate my belt buckle backings using German silver or as it's also called nickle silver. German silver is not silver but an alloy comprised of nickle, brass, and zinc and I use it because it is stronger, less expensive and it doesn't tarnish as does silver. All my buckles take around 20 different steps to complete and the one's with silver insets take many more steps.
