As a lover of jewelry, it is my pleasure to now be able to make jewelry for others! I love mixed metals, fringe, lapidary and mixing wild and creative shapes, patterns and color combos. How it’s Made
I start out with a flat sheet of metal, in this case, sterling silver. I then put the metal through a rolling mill to get the texture that I want. With this pair, I used a metal plate that had a snakeskin texture along with the silver. Once it comes out of the mill, it will be curved so I pound the metal flat. It may need to be annealed prior to this. This is a process that softens the metal using heat so it is more malleable. I then cut the metal into the shape that I want. After filing and sanding, I can drill holes for the bead work and solder the bezel wire and ear wire to the surface. I then use liver of sulphur to put a patina on the silver. After cleaning and polishing, I can set the stone and then add the bead work fringe.
