About this Product

*Do you have more sock yarn than square footage in your home, but not nearly enough time to knit it all? *Did you try to learn how to make socks once, but those needles were so small! And they just take forever! And you couldn't figure out how to turn the heel? *Do you absolutely love some of my sock yarn (I sure hope you do!) but you don't know how to knit? This listing is for a pair of socks, custom-knit for you. Once you place the order, I will send you a convo and we'll have a little chat about your feet (that was a very weird sentence to type) and what color, style, etc. of sock you'd like. Then you send me the sock yarn you want me to use (you pay shipping). After about a week for production of the socks, then shipping time, you'll receive your fabulous hand-cranked socks, made to your specifications! You'll also get any leftover yarn back if you want (Disclaimer: This is minus any yarn I use to make a gauge swatch). This listing is for custom-made socks where you supply the yarn! If you don't want to buy the yarn first, try this listing: https://www.etsy.com/listing/533291305/hand-made-socks-made-to-order-customized Note: this listing is for a crew-cut sock, which has a leg about 6-8" long (usually reaches a little shorter than mid-calf). If you'd specifically like ankle-length socks or knee-highs, send me a convo since the cost would be different. Method: All my socks are hand-cranked on my antique circular sock knitting machine, a finicky little beast I call Cecil, and finished by hand. Care: Machine-wash cold or handwash in cool water, tumble dry on low or dry flat. The wool in these socks is treated so that they won't felt on you, but these socks will last longer if you treat them gently and handwash them and let them dry flat. Plus you won't have to worry about the dryer eating one of them. Cool iron, if you feel that your socks need to be ironed (it takes all kinds). No bleach. Tips for longer-lasting socks: These socks should last you a couple of years with fairly average use. Most likely they should last longer, I've got handmade wool socks that are several years old and still going strong, but a couple of years is a fairly conservative estimate on my part. If you're concerned about your socks lasting and want to keep them around for longer, there are a few things you can try: *Hand-wash with wool wash (shampoo will also work in a pinch!) and dry flat *Only wash your socks every other wearing (maybe air them out at night?) *Don't wear your socks around the house without slippers or shoes on as well (the friction between your socks and the carpet can cause extra wear and tear) *Take good care of your feet (Keep your toenails trimmed, folks!) *Don't let your cats play with your socks All my socks are made in a smoke-free environment with cats, although the kitties are silent partners and don't actually help with the sockmaking process. Some color differences between photos and actual socks may exist.
