About this Product

Elevate your charcuterie board with this artisan-crafted 4-piece cheese knife set, featuring handles turned from genuine Blue Mahoe—an increasingly rare Caribbean hardwood prized for its swirling tones of green, grey, violet, and olive. Sourced responsibly and worked with care, Blue Mahoe is the national tree of Jamaica and a standout for collectors and entertainers alike.

Each piece is fitted with professional-grade 304 food-safe stainless steel hardware from Rockler, designed with a push-and-lock mechanism (inspired by high-pressure fire hose fittings) for strength and durability far superior to standard screw-on kits.

This set includes:

  • Spade knife – for cutting through hard and aged cheeses

  • Fork – for lifting, serving, or anchoring cheese while slicing

  • Narrow plane knife – perfect for semi-firm cheeses

  • Soft cheese knife – curved and serrated for soft, sticky cheeses

  • Each handle is hand-turned and one-of-a-kind

  • Made from rare Blue Mahoe with shimmering chatoyance

  • Ergonomically shaped for comfort and balance

  • Built with 304 stainless steel for food safety and long life

Meet the Maker

Hi, I’m Chad—the craftsman behind every piece at StoneWood Designs.

I’ve been a woodworker for as long as I can remember. Whether building something practical or designing something purely for beauty, I’ve always found joy in shaping raw materials into lasting, meaningful objects. In recent years, that passion led me to the lathe—where form, texture, and purpose come together in a way that’s both meditative and endlessly creative.

From pens and bowls to holiday décor, kitchen tools, and desk accessories, everything I make starts with one thing: exceptional material. Living in Las Vegas means I have to work hard to source great wood—but I see that as a feature, not a bug. I spend hours tracking down the right pieces, often working with other small makers across the country to find sustainable, unique woods and hybrid materials. I pride myself on pairing each one perfectly with its hardware, so the design feels complete—intentional from start to finish.

If I had to sum up what I hope you feel when you see or hold one of my pieces? Evocative. Whether it’s a pen that reminds you of the ocean or a bowl that feels rooted in tradition, I want it to spark something. A memory. A mood. A sense of connection.

Supporting handmade work keeps these skills alive—and keeps small makers thriving. I’m proud to be part of that, and I’m grateful you’re here.

How it’s Made

Each handle begins as a carefully selected Blue Mahoe blank—chosen for unique grain patterns and color variation. The wood is then mounted on a lathe and hand-turned into its final shape using traditional tools. After shaping, the handle is sanded through multiple grits for a glass-smooth feel and finished with a food-safe oil and wax blend to bring out the natural luster and provide moisture resistance.

The result is a functional work of art—one that’s meant to be used, admired, and passed down.
