How it’s Made

Each journal cover begins with a base of scrap quilting cotton, slow-stitched and machine-stitched with decorative thread and embroidery floss.

After stitching is complete, the fabric is reinforced, then permanently adhered to Davy board using PVA bookbinding adhesive.

Decorative accents such as plastic buttons, lace, beads, denim, or zippers may be added for extra personality.

Each piece is one-of-a-kind and assembled entirely by hand, often taking up to a full day to complete.

? Materials:

  • 100% quilting cotton (scrap fabric)

  • 100% cotton embroidery floss (for slow stitching)

  • Polyester sewing machine thread (for decorative stitches)

  • Plastic buttons (may vary by design)

  • Heat ‘n Bond + tissue paper (reinforcement layer)

  • PVA bookbinding adhesive

  • Davy board (professional book cover board)

  • Occasional extras: beads, zippers, denim, lace, and more

Note: The interior is left unfinished so you can customize your journal with your own book block and endpapers.
