Meet the Maker

Hello and welcome to my shop! My name is Marilyn Ellis and I'm the owner, designer and maker here. I retired last year after over 40 years in the Automotive Industry. I couldn't wait to have time for hobbies and draw out the creative part of me again. Growing up I was always sketching and drawing. When I went to college I discovered I liked technical drawing and AutoCAD was just getting a foothold in business. I switched from Business to Manufacturing and took beginners through advanced CAD classes. I fell in love with the program and was hired into our Engineering Dept. Early on it was mostly digitizing drawings from GM, Ford, Chrysler etc. Years later everyone shared drawings electronically, what a relief! I spent most of my years as a Cost Engineer but also did stretches in R&D and finally Production/OEE where I helped design a program that tracks all production/scrap and quality issues throughout the manufacturing process. A few months before I retired my brother-in-law bought a laser and showed my husband and I some of the things he was making. I liked that you could design your own things in a CAD-like program (I use Lightburn and Fusion 360). I did a lot of research and purchased a 30W Laser from Roly and love it! I realized early on that I wasn't happy with just birch or hardwoods, not enough color for me! I found some products made by Rowmark made right here in Ohio that fit the bill. They are colored veneers that I love working with. I look forward to learning more about lasers and someday adding a C02 laser so I can do more with acrylics. I love making practical things that are colorful and bright and sharing my work with friends, family and now on GoImagine. I grew up on a small dairy farm in rural Ohio. I currently own and live on a farm that's been in my family for over 100 years with my husband and dog Sunny.

How it’s Made

Made with pride in the USA from a 3mm veneer called Clementine to give them the realistic color, the wood grain shows through to add dimension and character. The darker areas are engraved on both sides. The wood is protected with transfer paper while cut with precision by a laser. The transfer paper is removed and two layers of Rust-Oleum Triple Thick Glaze are applied.

Shop Policies

Please Note :

  • Due to being handmade, there are sometimes slight imperfections in fit or finish.  I'm very picky about what passes for items that are good enough to sell.

  • Since no two pieces of wood are identical, color variations and grains may differ with each piece.

  • On multi-colored items, there may be different choices made in where each color appears.  If you are concerned about this, let me know if there are any colors you don't want used.  If you want specific colors used in a design, contact me and we can discuss a custom design just for you. Changes in color only are at no additional cost.

  • Cancellations - I accept cancellations anytime before item is shipped.

  • Returns - I accept returns for 30 days from ship date. Item must be in original condition and returned in the original packaging. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs.

  • Customer Satisfaction is my number one goal! If you are unhappy with an item, please send me a message first before leaving negative feedback. I will address your concerns. I love making these items and want to know that you are happy with your purchase!

  •  I sometimes may sell a prototype or items with imperfections that don't detract much from the overall quality or functionality of the item.  These items will be clearly marked as such and of coarse the price will be reduced.

  • Don't be surprised if your item shows up in a box with Amazon or Walmart etc. on the outside, I recycle and reuse packaging to save trees!

  • Thank you for visiting my shop!
