Includes turn knob as an on/off switch and dimmer controls.
Low energy usage and compatible with 12V DC battery packs that use 5.5x2.1mm plug (Sold separately).

Shadows are most crisp closest to the lamp, and the effect extends throughout the room.

Joseph Zado, a skilled fine artist based in Virginia, is celebrated for his exceptional ability to blend craftsmanship with artistic vision. His work draws heavily from nature, bringing the magic of the outdoors into everyday spaces through his meticulously crafted pieces.
Growing up along the coastal landscapes of Virginia Beach, Joseph developed a deep connection to the natural world and a passion for art. He pursued formal training in fine arts, mastering woodworking, sculpture, and lighting design. Inspired by the serene beauty of forests and the intricate patterns of nature, Joseph’s creations often explore the interplay of light, shadow, and geometry.
Joseph is best known for his handcrafted shadow lamps, including the widely acclaimed "Wonderland" and "Boletus Lumos" pieces. These lamps, made from premium hardwoods and cast acrylics, transform ordinary spaces into mesmerizing environments of light and shadow. His work showcases his dedication to fine craftsmanship and his fascination with combining technical elements in lighting and natural and geometric patterns.
Beyond the studio, Joseph and his wife actively participate in the arts community. They are regular sponsors and vendors at arts and music festivals, frequently traveling along the East Coast during the summer to showcase Joseph’s work. His art has been featured in shows and immersive experiences in New York and Virginia and highlighted by the Editors of multiple publications, gaining him a loyal following of collectors and admirers.
When he isn't creating, Joseph enjoys life in Virginia with his wife, daughter, and several beloved dogs. In his spare time, he cultivates rare plants, surfs the local waves, and refinishes guitars. Joseph, a rock music lover, also plays the bass guitar, reflecting his passion for music and craftsmanship.
Joseph Zado continues to draw inspiration from the world around him, blending artistic and technical elements to create pieces that evoke wonder and imagination. His work invites viewers to experience the fusion of nature and design, bringing a sense of tranquility and enchantment into any space.
How it’s Made
Each Lamp is handmade in our workshop in Zuni, Virginia. Joe designs and tests each style over a period of months before we offer them to you. We hand-stain all hardwood, cut all acrylic ourselves, and wire all the electronic components one by one. We test each lamp for reliability before shipping, and offer worldwide delivery and a lifetime warranty. We're also open to custom orders. Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply.
We cannot control delays due to customs.
We ship all packages insured for your protection. This requires us to honestly declare the value of your package which then may receive an import tax. Check to see if you’ll need to pay in advance. Please note that if your lamp is an international shipment, you may be responsible for customs duties in accordance with your country's tax regulations. Should you choose not to accept the package, it will be returned to us and we will refund your order, less associated delivery costs. If the package is not returned to us, we will be unable to refund your order.

We offer a lifetime warranty on every lamp we sell. We’ll service or replace it if broken as long as we’re making lamps. Yep, even if YOU broke it. You cover the shipping and we’ll fix it for free.

Frequently asked questions
Are the lamps projectors?
Nope! The shadow lamps use physical shapes to create patterns of shadows instead of a projector's lenses and screens. Like projectors they still require darkness for the best contrast. In the daytime you can see the shapes as well as the infinite reflections inside the lamp, but like most other forms of mood lighting nighttime is their time to shine!
Will there be customs fees?

Can I get a 'hooyah'?

Can the lamp be dimmer/brighter?
With our method of dimming anything below our lowest setting would be caught by your eyes as an unpleasant flickering or strobe effect.
As far as brightness we chose a balance between how far the light projects, how hot the light gets, and how harmful direct eye contact with the light would be. Currently the lamps are as bright as we feel they should be without being harmful to your eyes and needing an expensive cooling system.
How long do the lamps last?
The component with the shortest lifetime is rated for 10 years of service before any noticeable decrease in lumens. If you are experiencing trouble before that time, please don't hesitate to reach out to us so we can make it right!
I saw there was one lamp in stock, does this mean it's already made and ready to ship?
No, our lamps are made-to-order. Buying one puts you on our production schedule. We limit the stock to avoid a large amount of orders in a short period of time. This keeps our shipping dates reasonable for you! :)
