Meet the Maker
Toshi's Totes and More is dedicated to my dear friend and "little sister", Toshiko Clark (pictured), who was taken from us way too soon at the tender age of 43. Toshi and I supported each other through rough emotional times by having "sewing weekends". I attended a few craft shows with her while she displayed the beautiful tote bags she made. Her dream was to eventually start her own sewing business... primarily showcasing her bags. She had much newer sewing and embroidery machines than I had and started teaching me how to use them until she passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. I inherited her incredible machines, thread, notions... anything related to sewing that she had... and she had quite a bit!! At first I was hesitant and a little intimidated to use her machines, but after going through the manuals and learning the craft she started to teach me, I felt like I was ready to carry out the dream she was pursuing before she passed. With her family's blessings I decided to step out on faith and open an Etsy shop in her honor. And now I've expanded to goimagine to continue to carry on her legacy and keep her dream alive.
How it’s Made
This tote is made from upholstery fabric that I acquired from a local furniture company. It was destined to be thrown into the trash. I upcycled it into a lined beach tote with rope handles.
