About this Product
I don't know about you but am a magnet for mosquitos, I'm not sure why but they LOVE my skin. Being one who lives for the outdoors, whether I'm hiking, camping or sitting on my front porch, I just LOVE being outside. I was desperate to find a plant based mosquito repellent that was chemical + DEET free. This repellent is not only combats mosquitos but many other insects as well, it's amazing! I can FINALLY go outside and enjoy the outdoors without swatting and itching every 5 mins.
We use homemade rosemary + thyme infused EVOO, Vitamin E + Sesame oil as the carrier oils, all of which contain mosquito repelling, anti inflammatory + skin softening properties. All of the essential oils we chose not only repel mosquitos, they create a strong aroma, which is a great choice for mosquito-heavy places like the North GA mountains, lakeside camping, even your back yard. If your are planning a trip where you know there will be lots of mosquitoes, be sure to make room in your bag for this amazing repellent.
**Please note that other precautions may be necessary to manage mosquitos and this recipe is not intended to prevent mosquito-transmitted diseases.
Ingredients: Thyme + Rosemary Infused EVOO, Sesame Oil, Witch Hazel, Vitamin E Oil, Atlas Cedarwood, Lemon Eucalyptus, Lavender, Geranium, Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree + Lemon Essential Oils
Directions: Shake well before each use. Spritz over exposed skin, avoiding eyes and mucus membranes. Reapply as often as needed. Use lightly when using with school-age children. I do not recommend using essential oils with babies or young children. Please see caution below. Store in the refrigerator with tight-fitting lid. Repellent will be shelf-stable for up to a year when stored properly.
Caution: Essential oils are generally not indicated for use on infants or young children, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, people with serious medical conditions, or certain pets—especially cats. When the pandemic hit in 2020, I was let go from my job causing me to lose all sources of my income. As a single mom, and the sole provider of my 2 children, I was scared + uncertain + slightly panicked of what was next. With no time to waste I confronted the pivotal question: “What is my passion and how can I support my children?” I’ve always had the dream of one day transforming my candle making hobby into a candle making business, but given my situation I NEVER would have thought about being a self employed start up. Turns out this was now my sole focus + greatest opportunity. I had no idea where it was going to go but it was my only option. I risked my entire savings and dove in head first with both feet + fingers crossed. Despite the initial fear + uncertainty, I now recognize this as an opportunity to pursue a path aligned with my true calling. As scary as this was at the time, my darkest hour ultimately unfolded into the beginning of a beautiful journey.
I have been pouring + creating for over 30 years. Atlanta 1992, my sister and I formed a company called Sisters Candles, just for fun and the love of candles, who knew where it would go?! Always using 100% all natural soy wax, all of the oils used today are super clean. As for the name, BODE+EV, it holds deep significance for me as it’s derived from the names of my two beloved children, Boden and Eviana, symbolized by the birds in our logo. Birds not only represent my children but also embody powerful symbols of peace, transformation, freedom, and power. They inspire me to persist in reaching my goals and dreams, despite any obstacles I may encounter along the way. For years, I have been chasing my dreams, and now, I feel like I’m truly living them and it all began with a hobby, the loss of my job, a huge risk + a candle. I hope you love burning my them as much as I love creating them.
