This is the wooden bed section of my file on Cults3d for people that want the wooden bed instead of 3d printing the flat section in the middle. I've also added an option to purchase the wooden bed and the 3d printed frame.
I stained the wood with maple wood finish to darken it up (it comes raw maple, no stains or clear coats). But you could use any stain or paint and a clear coat if wanted.
(I’ll be making a YouTube how to video on this soon) To swap over the bed, unscrew the bed rails from the frame then from the bed. Disconnect the winch cable (winch will not be installed unless you drill holes to mount it) and bed light cable to make it easier to swap the lights over to the bed. Install the bed rails to the bed and make sure the spacers are sandwiched between the wood and bed rail.
To swap over the bed lights just unscrew the lights from the original bed and move them over. I find it easier to install the lights after the bed and frame are together. If you install them before the wood and frame are
together, you have to fish the wood around the wires. The lights are a semi tight fit, so be careful. The wires can break off the board easily. My wires broke and I had to resolder them on.
The wood bed is made of 1/4" (~6mm) Columbia Forest Maple Plywood. Since this is plywood, if you drive in rain or through water I would add a few layers of clear coat on all sides to try to keep it dry. Plywood doesn't do well getting wet.
Due to the nature of this hobby (outside rock crawling with scrapes, drops, and usually water) there are no returns. If you have an issue upon delivery reach out and I will make it right if possible. But once mounted and used this is non returnable.
These are printed out of Petg and are durable but can break just like any other plastic.
