How it’s Made
This series of images were all created, one after another, using Procreate (an iPad drawing and painting app). Most of them were created using reference photographs I took over Easter weekend, 2024.
You can find speedpaints of each image here:
Blue Teacup#1: https://makertube.net/w/ijZ7ov9rdDdprSvZmL9hFu
This dark blue (I'm calling it "cobalt" was one of the most unusual cups in Donnie's collection. Most of her cups were floral with gold edging, but this was almost Moroccan in inspiration. It was one of the most unique, certainly! Because it was dark, it reflected light differently, too. Which was an awesome challenge for me!
Jade Teacup #2: https://makertube.net/w/ukdCsjJnEHPyQ8T4JE2nc2
This gorgeous cup was jade green, and I loved it! I had a lot of fun doing this one!
Pink & Blue Floral Teacup #3: https://makertube.net/w/cGZJRstAiid4AXFnHzqyMD
Another cup from Donnie's collection. I love all the floral bits in this one, and trying to abstract it all without being too specific and photographic led to a gorgeously textured image!
Violet Teacup #4: https://makertube.net/w/pPbyJ9ymQEmByMmERh7tF7
This teacup is the only one in the set that are not part of Donnie's teacup collection. This image I found on Unsplash, and I really loved the soft ridges that made wonderful light reflections!
Fluted Teacup #5: https://makertube.net/w/duEJ5hbiD7bjqD66qzYBEU
Donnie's Teacup, or Grandma's Teacup. This was the teacup that started it all. By the time I felt confident that teacups were something I could do, I dove into this one with a gust. I really love the reflections it has! This cup belongs to the personal collection of my husband's great grandmother, Donnie.
Rose Teacup #6: https://makertube.net/w/nyeb56dJeAAcdyyMttrnQA
This cup was another cup I photographed on Easter 2024 at the family home. It has a lovely rose pattern, and it's more of a traditional teacup shape with a wider brim and shallower bowl. I really love this one, too!
In the end, though, I'm incredibly proud of this set. I felt like I really rose to the occasion on this one, and it's consistently one of my most popular sets of cards! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!
