How it’s Made
This card was my attempt at being symbolic and abstract in my composition choices. I was experimenting with some new Procreate brushes that I'd purchased, and playing with the different kinds of textures they could make.
This image is supposed to be positive. It's about turning things inside out and flipping the paradigm. The sky is filled with fish, the umbrella is raining inside it, and below there are swimming birds. The umbrella is a fish because--well, why not? It's whimsical and magical and captures the viewer in the question: "What am I looking at here?" That wonder, that curiosity--that's what I was trying to allude to.
For me, this image is full of positivity. It means embracing the unexpected, and turning what might seem like a day full of rain into something golden and mysterious. Ultimately, this image is one of hope. And the value of imagination and fantasy. And I think sometimes we all need that in our lives, you know?
This image was done digitally, using my 12.9" M1 iPad Pro, an Apple Pencil, and Procreate. I print each card in my own studio as they're ordered on my Pixma Pro 22 8-color dye-based printer, and package them up myself.
