Corvus Lux is an independent jewelry business with the goal of providing handcrafted and thoughtful artisan jewelry to the public. This business is a one Woman show with the support of my Husband and young Daughter.
My typical primary materials include brass, copper and sterling silver with various stone, glass and recycled elements as needed. Typically, I build pieces at the bench directly from the materials at hand, but am ever increasingly moving towards a more planned design-and-then-build, production method. The importance, and fading of handcrafted goods in a world innundated with technology and artificially created, mass produced objects, is what drives me to continue making and teaching others.
I offer custom and repair work upon request and subject to availability. Such requests should fall within the scope of my current work style, but are welcome to include higher karat golds, platinum, and precious gems.
The name; Corvus Lux, means raven or crow light in Latin. It represents a shining of light on darkness and the balance of light and darkness in life. There are multiple, important and symbolic crow folklore stories from multiple cultures and time periods all over the world. I have been drawn to crows, their sound, image, and presence since I was a child in rural Pennsylvania.
I have tried doing other things with my life… I keep coming back to making small objects with my hands. I think this is where I’m meant to be.
