I started Mirkwood Scribes by making bookmarks as party favors to match custom invitations but found I liked creating around literary themes much more than party themes. I had some great back and forth with customers, found a great community over on #bookstagram, and seem to never run out of ideas for new bookmarks. I love the energy and excitement I get from other book-nerds (where were you people when I was in high school?!) and the most fun is sharing a favorite book with a new friend!
I design, print, and trim each bookmark in my home studio in Southeast Missouri. It is appropriately decorated with a full wall of bookshelves (#bookstagram made me buy so many books!) and a fireplace mantle covered with Harry Potter books and merch. There is usually a cat under my desk, and after school, my 14-year-old is in here playing video games and telling me all about life in 8th grade. My office is one of my favorite places to be.
