My name is Tracie Tolbert and I'm the owner and designer here at Designs By Callie Mae.
I don’t consider myself to be a lifelong crafter, yet as a kid I made and sold painted rocks, had the lemonade stands, and set up yard sales to sell the toys that we grew tired of. But true crafting didn’t come until my later years-after a career, family and everything else.
I retired from the military (ANG and Air Force) after 29 years of service. It was a lifetime of travels, experiences, rules and routines so when I retired, I found myself with lots of time and barely anything to do (I mean you can't golf all the time right?!) So one day I found a video of a fella making a wreath. I was fascinated! I thought I can do that too and I started to make wreaths. I gave a few away as “gifts” and none of them were ever returned to me (whew!) and I was asked to make a couple to sell-and there you have it….
How did I come up with the name? Callie Mae? Well Callie Mae was my sweet Torty cat. As I made my wreaths and crafts at the dining room table, she would sit there for hours and supervise everything I did. So naturally, we had to name it from her.
I create and handcraft all of the wreaths, door hangers and ornaments at Designs By Callie Mae and strive to produce quality, handmade items that my customers will love just as much as I do. Everything I make I would be proud to (and many times do!) display in my own home. I appreciate all your support and well wishes. Thank you…Tracie
