Why "A Few Good Bananas"?
As three sisters that enjoy spending time and creating together, when we formed a business we wanted to pick a name that would have special meaning to us. We used to take turns grocery shopping for our Mom, and it became a joke between us that on every grocery list she would put "a few good bananas." We chose our name to honor our very artistic Mom who always encouraged us to use our imaginations.
Our business evolved from a family tradition. Each year the three of us would get together and make presents for the kids in the family for Christmas, and every year we would make something different. One year we decided to make hats from reclaimed materials. They were such a hit with the kids and we were having so much fun making them that we couldn't stop. As it turned out, adults liked to wear our hats, too. Needless to say, one thing led to another and we now have a studio in the historic Town of Skaneateles, New York, that we work and play out of. Each of us brings a different personality to our creations and most of them are one-of-a-kind or limited edition. We want our customers to have just as much fun wearing them as we do making them!
