Ever since I can recall, I have been fascinated by fiber and fabric and I love to play around with colors and textures.
I have done punch needle, basket weaving, pot holder weaving, quilting, crochet, knitting, pom pom and tassel making, tapestry weaving, fiber emballage and felting. I love the process of choosing a design and am unafraid of incorporating fun colors into my art projects.
I am a huge fan midcentury design and colors as one could see if they set foot in our home.
I’m also very aware of sustainability practices and when possible I incorporate recycled or found objects into my work.
Several years back, I endeavored into creating designs for Swedish dishcloths which I now have printed in Sweden at the original printer of Swedish dishcloths. Swedish dishcloths, aka sponge cloths, are reusable and compostable resulting in an earth-friendly product that is very popular in Swedish kitchens. I like to refer to these dishcloths as functional art - art with a purpose.
In addition to offering Swedish dishcloths with contemporary and midcentury designs, I also offer many supplies necessary for weaving and felting. Here I focus on kits that include an assortment of colors of weaving materials, such as cotton warp thread and Merino wool roving. I will also offer handmade woven tapestries and fiber emballage pieces as they become available.
I am the sole, female owner of my small business, Snow Woven. I am from Upper Michigan and spend my time between Houghton and Traverse City, Michigan with my husband with frequent visits from our children and grandchildren. My company name is a play on the fact that I enjoy many snowy days each winter where we live!
