Thanks for checking out my handwoven pieces! I’m a lifetime fiber person, taught by my mom to sew and knit from an early age. Now, I’m creating with fiber, texture, and color primarily at the loom.
Weaving by hand has many steps, requiring time, concentration, and patience. For me, the process is often centering and meditative (unless of course I run into knots and tangles!). Nearly each piece is one of a kind.
Dorset buttons, a kind of “micro weaving”, originated 400 years ago using slices of sheep’s horn. (No, I don’t use sheep’s horn!) Hope you’ll enjoy wearing or gifting these unique pieces of Dorset button jewelry.
My daughter Elizabeth is a master knitter. I’m pleased to carry her colorful one of a kind wool hats, also in the shop.
I love sharing my work, and figure when I send out your order from Jan’s Handwovens & More, I’m sending a bit of beauty and joy out into the world!
