Have you ever been fooled by a stone's trade name? My first crystal sphere was also my first experience with that conundrum. With the name Peruvian Turquoise, I thought I had come across a new type of turquoise that I hadn't seen before. After making the purchase, I did some research and discovered that this is actually a form of chrysocolla from Peru that got it's trade name simply due to it's similar appearance to genuine turquoise.
Since then, I have educated myself and vowed to always know what I am buying before I buy it. I now know how to tell the difference between fake/dyed stones, resin, glass, and stones sold under another name. Then, once I started my business, I vowed to never sell a stone under false pretenses or without knowing the true identity of the stone I was advertising.
When you purchase a piece from CroChels, you can rest assured that the research has been done and you are being sold a stone that has been tested in many ways to verify it's identity.
Some other stones that go by different names:
* Selenite is (often) actually Satin Spar
* Blue Spot Jasper is actually Sodalite
* Dalmatian Jasper is not actually a jasper

"When you're a kid they tell you it's all... grow up. Get a job. Get married. Get a house. Have a kid, and that's it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It's so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better." ~Elton Pope, Doctor Who
Welcome to CroChels! My name is Chelsea and I am a self-proclaimed "Skeptical Witch". As a child, the thought of living an ordinary life was something that never appealed to me. I couldn't imagine following the same path as everyone else; never having adventures or exploring the unexplored. To this day, mystery is something that consumes me. I am recently on the path of witchcraft, and have learned a lot about both myself and the world around us. At the same time, science has been the backbone of nearly my entire education, and I now incorporate those thought processes into every new thing I learn.
CroChels started out as a crochet business for geeks and fantasy lovers, but has evolved as I have into something more beautiful than I could ever imagine. Now, I love to focus on the healing benefits of crystals, as well as the freedom of using witchcraft to pave our own way in life and love. Join me on this educational journey of self-love and positivity, and feel comfortable in sharing your own thoughts and experiences with the community that we are creating.
