My love for vintage hymns was birthed from my mother and father. There is a rich heritage of the testimony of God's faithfulness and goodness in the songs of the church. I enjoy passing them on so future generations might know the saving, everlasting love of the Lord God Almighty.
These hymns come from my private collection of antique hymnals with my own artsy touch added. Most of my calligraphy is handwritten and the holy scriptures are my favorite theme. Each print is printed in sepia tones to give the prints their vintage appeal.
Many years ago, I wanted to learn to write in calligraphy. I checked out book after book from the public libraries on the “How To’s”. Although I perused each book from cover to cover, I didn’t actually practice. On one of these “wishing” exercises, I prayed “Lord, please help me to learn to do calligraphy.”
Before long, as I would have my morning Bible readings, I’d find verses I thought needed to go up on my walls. After reading, I’d get out my calligraphy pen and write them so that I could pin them up. As time went on, I realized that the Lord had helped me to practice all those times. I didn’t even realize what was going on.
I learned an original form of calligraphy with simple lines and letters that are easy to read. That is how Vintage Verses got its start over 25 years ago. Now, with computer and scanner, I can share these verses and many more with the world. Sometimes I use beautiful computer fonts, too.
I have some in a few languages other than English and I hope to do more. If you have a particular scripture that you’d like in a particular language, please let me know.
Vintage Verses prints may come in various sizes, other colors and languages. Please ask if you want something different!
Just a forward note, though, I don’t do work that is copyrighted by someone else unless I have contracted permission to do so.
* My passion is that the word of God would be in every home in America.
