Welcome to Dawn A’s Craft Boutique! I design, create, and sew everything that you see in my shop.
I grew up in the heart of the Adirondacks in New York state, spent five years in Hawaii, and, for now, live on 14 acres of woods in the middle of nowhere. When I was a young girl, maybe 10 years old, my maternal grandmother tried to teach me how to knit and crochet. Let's just say it didn't work out quite the way either of us would have liked.
When I was a bit older and out on my own, I decided to try my hand at quilting. In my mind it had to be easier, probably because it didn't matter that I was left -handed...unlike knitting and crocheting. Then I got a sewing machine and oh boy, the possibilities were endless. Now I have several vintage machines and an antique Singer 66 Lotus from 1909. My go-to machine is a Singer 1948 201-2 Blackside.
This year I’m really focusing on creating and just spending time in my little studio. Self-care is going to be so important for the next few years. Creating helps me relax, along with yoga and lots of meditation.
