About this Product

Crack, Dot, Bam!

This stunning, modern Jewish papercut amulet brings protection and beauty to any Jewish home. At its center is a Star of David surrounded by four concentric circles of Shir LaMa’alot (Psalm 121), a psalm traditionally recited on Shabbat, and also sung as a source of comfort during times of distress, and pregnancy and childbirth. The outer edges of the papercut bloom into a simple mandala pattern.

Cut from high-quality lavender-purple cardstock, this protective artwork, drawing on centuries-old Jewish folk traditions, makes a meaningful gift for:

  • An expecting mother

  • Newborn

  • Adoption

  • Someone in mourning

  • Someone going through a health crisis

It is also appropriate to give as a gift to a bar, bat, or simchat mitzvah.

Meet the Maker

Hello and welcome! I’m Evelyn Goldman (she/her), the artist behind Romance and Mishegoss.

My art is all about storytelling, tradition, and joy. I create papercut art that weaves together Jewish heritage, personal meaning, and communal celebration. Every design starts with a hand-drawn sketch, which I digitize and cut with a machine—but the magic really happens in the finishing touches I do by hand. I use eco-friendly, archival materials to make art that is both rooted in tradition and alive in the present.

You can also find my pieces at the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience in New Orleans.

How it’s Made

Because I cut and finish each one myself, no two pieces are exactly alike—each papercut has its own personality and charm. Whether you're buying it as a gift or for your own space, you're getting something truly one-of-a-kind.
