The Maple Tiger

Meet the Maker
The Maple Tiger was the best way to describe my woodworking business and the work I do as a woodworker. Maple Wood has been left behind in the woodworking industry, I think because of all the exotic woods that has been flooded into our country over the past 30 years. All the domestic woods except walnut has been put aside, so to speak. I have always loved maple wood, there are so many subspecies of Maple if you get tired of one just switch to a different one. With different technics you can alter the appearance easely , I like that ability to change the way Maple wood can look different it allows me to be more creative,
Maple wood has many subspecies that can be stunning to the eyes, some examples are Tiger Maple, Curly Maple, Ambrosia Maple, Birdseye Maple, Quilted Maple, Sycamore Maple and the list goes on. There is no end on how to finish these maples, so the creativity can keep on expanding. I still make some projects with other woods, it's just maple is my favorite.
Working with wood more than 40 years I come to appreciate our domestic woods the most, not saying the other types of woods aren't good it's just what I prefer to work with. I have loved building clocks for over 30 years and I'll continue to build them as long as I can. The different home Decor projects that I build gives my mind time to be more creative and to experiment with ideals, well I hope that I have explained a little about myself, so now you know why I use so much Maple wood.

How it’s Made
This beauty is made out of Quartersawn Sycamore which is a type of Maple. It has a total of three shelves and 3 beautiful butterfly key holders to hang your keys on. It has been dyed not stained so the color is soaked into the wood in order to highlight the beautiful wood grain. All the edges have been chamfered so there are no sharp edges. There has been 2 coats of hand rubbed Danish oil applied to the front and back and 4 coats of hand rubbed Satin Poly applied to both sides for that long lasting protection. Every joint has been glued and screwed together to last for generations.
