About this Product

I freeform crocheted and knit this unique colorful art scarf with a whole bunch of excellent quality scrap yarns leftover from numerous projects.

There are a bunch of little "keyholes" throughout so you have lots of options to thread through for a secure, close to the neck fit.

MEASUREMENTS:

Laid flat, scarf measures approximately 39 inches in total LENGTH

The WIDTH varies because of the freeform technique used, but ranges from around 4 to 7 inches throughout.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

Hand wash in COLD water with a mild detergent suitable for wool, gently squeeze excess water, lay flat to dry.

The colors are a crayola mosh pit of all different shades.

I used odds and ends of mostly leftover high~ end sock yarn from my local yarn shop along with some gorgeous silk/mohair/wool blend that I had leftover from my never-ending projects.

I experimented with all sorts of freeform stitches when making this scarf and it was really beautiful to see how everything came together in this sort of cohesive chaos.

It's painting with yarn. It's fun.

Meet the Maker

Hi, my name is Christine and thank you for checking out my new shop.

For as long as I can remember I have always been doing something creative. As a little girl I drew constantly and I was perfectly content to spend hours alone talking to rocks and the flowers while I designed entire clothing lines in my head. I was a weird little kid, but a happy and imaginative one.

One of my most vivid memories is of my mother teaching me how to make my very first hand sewn stitches on to pieces of scrap fabric that she'd been saving for me since I was a toddler.

My mom was an incredibly talented, self~ taught seamstress, and while I never quite got the hang of the sewing machine myself, in my early twenties I taught myself to knit and crochet ( left handed and hilariously awkward at first ) ~ and after that there was no going back.

Over the years my interest in the environment and minimalism has led me to discovering the joys of making and working with all sorts of recycled fibers. From turning T-shirts into soft cotton yarn, to making my own "twine" from discarded scraps of cotton... the possibilities are endless.

This might sound a little out there, but I often feel my Mom`s presence when I'm working on a new project or design. She passed away when I was a teenager and I'd like to think that she'd be proud of my creative pursuits... even if I never did figure out that sewing machine.

Art has been such an outlet for me throughout my life and has helped me endure quite a handful of losses and trauma. I honestly don't know what I would do without my creativity.

I'm grateful for this colorful, creatively chaotic world I've made for myself.

Thank you for walking said world with me.
