About this Product

This large tote bag can hold a lot! It's constructed from a vintage wedding ring quilt with some feed sack fabric, saddle brown waxed canvas bottom and pale pinky-peach cotton lining. It's perfect for overnights, outings, taking extra things to sporting events and even a diaper bag. It has two large pockets on the inside for keys and small things, so you don't have to dig to the bottom to find them. The sturdy, 2" x 22" straps made with the same fabric as the lining. Strong, 3/4" antique brass magnetic snap helps keep your things inside the bag. The waxed canvas has an aged patina look to it and is water resistant. So, setting it down on the floor, pavement or grass, won't hurt it. The waxed canvas also gives the bottom structure and stability when set down. This bag is not only pretty, but functional, too!

Bag is 21w x 14h x 6d. Spot clean and air dry the quilt, lining and straps as needed. The more the waxed canvas is worn, the greater the patina!

Please note this is made with vintage material. It may have stains, small rips. etc. The fabrics are old and show signs of wear in most cases.

Meet the Maker

Hello! Welcome to my shop! My mom taught me to sew in the early 80's. I made a lot of my clothes back then. By the mid-90s, I realized I had a love of vintage and antique things. I found ways to use repurpose the "junk" as decor. In 2019, I started buying and reselling vintage finds and hand painted furniture. In July of 2024, I made a hard right turn and started collecting cutter quilts, old grain and feed sacks and other vintage material, then hauled out the sewing machine and went to work. I am a repurposer at heart. I love turning what is no longer serviceable as it is, into something pretty and useful.

I live in rural SE Ohio, part of the Appalachians. I love living almost in the middle of nowhere and being able to say, "I have to run to town". I enjoy hitting flea markets and estate sales with my husband, spending time in the garden and behind the camera, and hanging with my fur kids.

How it’s Made

The quilt pieces I used for this bag needed minor repair. I've stitched the loose squares and made a patch for a spot I couldn't stitch back together. The batting looks to be a pink and white striped blanket that was pieced in in different directions. I've included photos of the quilt when I got it. You can see the blanket on the backside. I think that makes this quilt all the more special. The quilter used what she had, repurposing a blanket that was no longer usable. All is all, this is a wonderful quilt and should serve as a useful bag for many years.
