This original painting/sign features a pair of Belted Galloway cows, also know as Oreo Cookie cows, that live on a farm in Loudon County near Leesburg, Virginia. The county is well known for fox hunting, equestrian events and, of course, cows.
This reproduction measures about 23.5" by 12.75" and comes ready to hang.
All of my original art is constructed from and painted on reclaimed barn wood that is 100 to 200 years old. Ads a touch of the hunt country to any room from your living room to your barn and great for any office, man cave, pub, tavern or bar. Real barn wood framing can be added to these reproductions to give them even more dimension and realism.
All reproductions are made from my hand-painted originals, featuring custom interpretations of 18th and 19th century tavern and trade signs. The photos shown are of an actual printed reproduction. Created from an ultra-high resolution scan of the 3-dimentional original then printed with a state-of-the-art UV cured ink jet printing technique. All reproduction pieces are printed on high quality finish-grade 3/4" plywood board for an authentic look and feel. These signs can also be printed in a custom size up to 4 feet by 8 feet if you would like something larger. Of course the print cost and shipping charge would be determined by the final size. Meet the Maker
Creativity is in my genes. I grew up with a very creative mother who was an antique dealer for many years and father who is a very successful architect. Very early in my career, when most kids my age were still scribbling on walls with crayon, my wall art was done with mechanical pens, oil paint and press-type. We won't discuss a certain collage period that involved scissors and curtains. Much of my time in class was spent drawing and doodling which led to encouragement from teachers in the form of erasers to the head and laps around the track (thanks Mr. G).
Naturally I went to art school after high school and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. As a professional graphic artist and illustrator I have worked in design studios, ad agencies, corporate settings and as a freelance artist for clients such as McCormick, Lehigh Cement, Dupont Pharmaceuticals, ADC Maps, Trailways National Bus System and many others.
Among my many interests are wood and metal working, antiques and great cars, mainly old British cars (yes, the kind that don't want to start in the rain but you don't really want to drive them in the rain anyway). Four kids, five dogs and many cars later I decide to merge my interest in antiques with my artistic endeavors and pursue the creation of authentic looking 18th and 19th period tavern and trade signs. Using very old reclaimed barn lumber I match the sign content with the perfect piece of wood to form the base of the hand-painted artwork. The end result is a unique piece of museum-quality art that is sure to be the focal point of any room.
How it’s Made
Every one of my reproduction signs starts as one of my original hand crafted, hand-painted pieces of art. I high resolution image is made of the final sign which is then printed directly onto high quality, exterior grade plywood by a local printer. The printing is done by a high resolution printer using UV light cured, archival quality inks that are extremely color stable. I then hand finish each sign by trimming the piece, sanding the corners, painting the edges and installing hanging hardware. Each sign comes ready to hang and signed by me, the original artist.
