Caring for your crepe paper flowers and plants

  • Suitable for indoor use only.

  • NO water! It will damage the crepe paper permanently!

  • Place away from a window. Crepe paper may fade in direct sunlight.

  • Petals and leaves may be gently reshaped with your fingers, stems may be carefully bent to the positions you like. Stems may be cut with wire cutters, but simply bending them to fit your vase will leave more options for future use.

  • Surface colorings are non-toxic.

  • Use a hair dryer set on lowest/coolest setting to remove dust.

Meet the Maker

Thank you for your interest in my site! My name is Mardi. I’m a former graphic designer turned paper flower artist, with a history of being an insatiable maker. Creating beautiful things makes me happy. Busy hands are, for me, simply a daily necessity.

Crepe paper flowers first sparked my curiosity several years ago. How could such humble material be transformed into such beauty? The potential fascinated me and I dove in deeply. Books and tutorials were my first teachers. So was a lot of trial and error as I slowly honed and mastered my skills. Steady hands and a love of precision have served me well. My unwavering goal is to assure that each paper flower honors its natural model.

My home has turned into a garden, perpetually in bloom. Bright pink tulips adorn my windowless powder room. Blue sweet peas bring life to that dark corner of my living room. Green houseplants sit in impossible places, never withering and never, ever needing a single drop of water. I love the cheerful ambiance.

I’m proud and delighted to offer my work to you here, through goimagine. Goimagine is a curated marketplace dedicated to serving artisans who love to make things and find joy in sharing them. Every purchase of our handmade goods benefits children’s charities, so shopping here is advantageous all the way around! Whether you’re looking for a thoughtful gift or a special find, I’m confident you’ll find the just the right thing. Happy shopping!

How it’s Made

I take pride in handcrafting every flower and plant individually, and I’m fussy! Even the seemingly simplest blooms can require several hours to complete. My attention to detail ensures the uniqueness of each one. As in nature, no two will be exactly alike.

Each new flower begins with research and lots of experimentation with different paper weights, colors, and techniques for shaping the various components. This usually results in numerous prototypes. Each one is evaluated, and ultimately, a final compilation emerges. When possible, studying a live specimen is ideal. (Special thanks to my shamrock plant. Tracing those leaves was invaluable!)

Once satisfied with the design, I select premium Italian and German crepe papers and, if needed, hand color it with dyes, inks, pastels, pencils, markers, paint or even makeup or spices.

Some blooms require just a few petals, others need dozens. Every single piece—petals, sepals and leaves, is hand-cut with meticulous precision.

The next step involves manipulating the paper by gently stretching, layering, folding, curling or twisting to create shape and texture. Finally, each component is carefully positioned and secured in place. A clear floral sleeve keeps your flowers looking fresh as they make their journey to you.
