About this Product

Feeling crafty? Get in the DIY-spirit and make your own locker hook trivet using this instant download PDF pattern. While this document does not teach you how to locker hook, it provides you with a pattern to make a beautiful trivet that you can feel proud to have created with your own two hands!

Two pattern versions are included:

  • 1-page color pattern, not to actual size

  • 2-page full-size black and white pattern to print and trace directly onto your canvas backing

Give your tabletop a glow-up this season and every season with a charming and durable trivet. Use it functionally as a hot pad on your dining table, decoratively on a side table, under a potted plant or flower vase - you can even hang it on your wall!

Making your own is an excellent way to customize the style and colors to your choosing, while whittling down that fabric stash at the same time (c’mon, we all know you have one!). Make a couple for yourself AND give to anyone who appreciates thoughtful, hand-made gifts that stand the test of time.

Finished trivet size is approximately 10 ¼” x 10 ¼”. Please note that this listing is for a digital download of the pattern only (does not include the full tutorial), and you will not receive a physical product. Images of finished products in this listing are for illustrative purposes only.

Meet the Maker

At SecondMade, I believe that what you choose to participate in matters

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to the act of making something out of nothing - or more accurately - a pile of raw materials. For most of my life, I assumed that purchasing brand new supplies was the only option available and I happily crafted away, unaware of the environmental pitfalls of craft-based consumption

With time I realized that there was a better way: utilizing secondhand and repurposed materials to achieve the same ends - making cute stuff! Since this shift, I have become increasingly aware of the vast amount of unwanted materials suitable for crafting already in circulation. Purchasing brand new supplies is no longer the only conceivable option available to me - in fact, it's usually my last resort

For years past and into the future, I choose to find worth in materials that have been discarded by others, to weave the value back in to what would otherwise be destined as waste.

Here at SecondMade, I offer hand-woven and hand-crafted items designed to inspire a little spark of joy whenever you see them - consciously crafted from secondhand and repurposed materials, of course! With a purchase of reusable seasonal home decor or timeless personal accessories, you can feel proud of what you are choosing to participate in.

SecondMade: Weave a little joy into your life!

How it’s Made

Kind of like a cross between rug hooking and crochet, locker hooking produces a thick and sturdy product that will last for ages. Strips of fabric or other material are hooked into place on a gridded backing using a special crochet hook, then locked into place with string running through each fabric loop (hence the name locker hook). Like other rug hooking processes, the grid framework allows for designs as simple or intricate as the maker desires! A quick search on Google, YouTube, or Pinterest will give you a more in-depth look at how it’s done. It’s easy to learn and get started once you have the proper tools - what are you waiting for?
