Size: Approximately 51" by 53" in worsted weight size 4 yarn
or 45” by 45” dk yarn weight.
Chart size: There are 185 columns and 184 rows
US crochet terms are used in this pattern.
This is a two-color pattern
A fun and adorable giraffe design on a throw-sized blanket, an Overlay Mosaic Crochet pattern, to crochet handmade for your favorite giraffe-loving person. it's okay to be inventive and make the blanket using your favorite colors.
Supplies Needed:
Size H (5 mm) Crochet Hook
Worsted Weight Yarn: Size 4 medium.
Color A: Background color - Curry - Bernat Super Value - 5 skeins. Or your favorite color
Color B: Design color - Coffee - Red Heart Super Saver - 2 skeins. Or your favorite color
Border Yarn: I used the curry for the main border and trimmed in coffee. Or your favorite color
Included in this pattern:
Fully written out row-by-row instructions.
Design Chart using x with simple use directions.
Border Suggestions
Written instructions with a photo tutorial for the negative stitch if you should choose to use it.
Written Instructions for adding an extra color.
There is one design chart included in this pattern PDF with the grid squares marked with an x, it can be enlarged for easier viewing.
Or, you can also download the Excel charts and use them on your Excel program or google sheets.
You can follow the grid chart and/or written instructions or use both. The Excel chart is a separate download. Chart: On the Excel charts {the chart on the pdf is the same chart} you can use them on your Excel program or Google Sheets).

How it’s Made
I draw out my idea for a design, in this case, a cute giraffe looking backward.
I then take my drawn-out design and put it on an Excel grid chart (sheet) following the overlay mosaic crochet rules.
I chart the grid design.
I write out the pattern
I also prepare a digital PDF pattern and add the instructions, charts, border suggestions with easy diagrams, and how to block the finished product if needed. I also added a simple photo tutorial on how to do the negative stitch so that the maker can have the same design on the front and back of the blanket if they prefer.
I added how to add extra color areas if preferred.
I have people who know how to do the Overlay Mosaic Technique test my pattern to make sure all the Ps and Qs are in order. Then I publish my pattern here and in other places... and talk a lot about it in groups on social media sites.
