Mammoth melting sugar snow pea seeds:
These frost-hardy giants are prolific, sweet, and delicious! Mammoth melting sugar snow peas are a larger variety of traditional snow peas. Each pod can range in size from 4"- 5" inches. long. These thrive in the cooler weather so plant early spring to fall.
We munch on these while we are tending to the gardens, our rescue pups love them as well! They can be canned, frozen, steamed, stir-fried, or tempura fried. One of the best qualities of this variety is that it is stringless, you can just harvest and eat without any prep work.Â
The flavor is somewhat grassy and sweet. These are best when harvested before the peas become too round, so you will want the pod a little on the flat side. These grow best when trellised, you'll want to plant double rows, alternating spacing along a chainlink fence, cattle panel, or in a circle around a tomato cage. The plants can get up to 4 feet tall. Equally, you can tie strings up a structure and they will grow along the string just fine. You can also grow these in containers, just make sure to space them properly and give them something to climb on.Â
