About this Product
The Marlin Spike is a tool used in marine ropework, sometimes called a fid. Shaped in the form of a metal cone tapered to a point, they aid in such tasks as unlaying rope for splicing, untying knots, drawing marline tight using a marlinspike hitch, and as a toggle joining ropes under tension in a belaying pin splice. Ever have really tight knot that is nearly impossible to untie by hand? Employ one of these and get it loose in no time!
Hand machined from 1/2" diameter grade 5 titanium, corrosion resistant 655 silicon bronze, brass or copper, this feels great in the hand, and would make a great addition to your camping gear, boating gear, go-bag, etc.

Butterfield Machine
Meet the Maker
Butterfield Machine is a small locally-owned and run machine shop located in Centerville, Utah. All of our products are meticulously hand-crafted unique items that are known for their quality, durability and character.
We are of the opinion that quality, craftsmanship and simplicity matter to people. In the day and age where everything seems to be mass produced as quickly as possible at the lowest cost with the most features, it's rare that you find something of true quality. Ditch the cheap plastic packaging and the "Made in China" sticker, and find something that an individual made, by hand, on their time.
