The Grim Reaper seems to have appeared in Europe during the 14th century. It was during this time that Europe was dealing with what was then the world’s worst pandemic, the Black Death, believed to be the result of the plague.
The robe is thought to be reminiscent of the robes that religious figures of the time wore when conducting funerary services. The scythe is an apt image taken from agricultural practices of the time: harvesters used scythes to reap or harvest crops that were ready to be plucked from the earth…and, well, that’s kind of what happens when humans die: they are plucked from this earth.
In Europe, scarecrows have long been tied to the supernatural boogeyman, a monster who is often depicted in tattered clothing. To a superstitious agrarian society, not only would scarecrows keep birds away from crops, but they could also scare children away from the fields where there might be strange things hiding
Sam's name originates from Samhain, the origins of Halloween itself. He is depicted as a child dressed in a Halloween costume, which consists of an orange set of pajamas, and a mask made of a burlap sack with buttons for eyes. Sam drags a dirty sack around with him, but its contents are unknown, presumably candy.
The Ancient Greeks may have been the first civilization terrorized by a fear of the undead. Archaeologists have unearthed many ancient graves which contained skeletons pinned down by rocks and other heavy objects, assumedly to prevent the dead bodies from reanimating.
Despite the view held by many people voodoo dolls are no more evil and dark than any other form of magical practice. Magic itself is not good or evil, dark or light and it is the intent of the person casting the spell that determines the outcome of the magic, rather than any of the materials and tools used.

Meet the Maker
In 2011 my mom bought me a sewing machine. She knew I had been an avid fan of "Project Runway" and thought it'd be fun if I was able to make things with my kids. It started out with Barbie clothes, pj shorts and a few shirts.
Next thing you know I was making plushies for my kids. The requests were for toys they couldn't find in chain stores. Starting with a few unique plushies for my kids turned into friends requesting gifts. As of January of 2015, I had a few family members inspire me to start a shop. Everything I list here is handmade.
I take pride in challenging my skills and love working with others to make custom creations. Although my main focus is with dolls, stuffed toys and chibis, I also sew and sell other items such as bags, totes, baby blankets and many other custom creations that are too many to list here, so I post on TikTok, Instagram and on Facebook as well.
I hope that you enjoy my creations as much as I do making them for you!
Check out TikTok, Instagram and FB for more photos of creations and products!
