Hi, I’m Paula Bowers! I’ve been creating pottery for over 12 years, drawing inspiration from the rich history of South Carolina ceramics, the natural beauty of our family farm, and the music that moves me.
My work is all about joy—whimsical, functional pieces designed to be used and loved every day, yet crafted with the care and quality to last a lifetime.
How it’s Made
This expressive face mug starts as a slab of stoneware clay, hand-shaped and sculpted into a cylindrical form. The facial features—arched brows, that mischievous smirk, and soulful eyes—are all carefully carved by hand, giving this mug its signature attitude. A textured handle is attached and smoothed, adding both style and comfort. Once fully dried, it’s bisque fired, glazed in rich, earthy tones to highlight every expression, and then glaze fired at 2300°F for strength and durability.
Each mug is microwave and dishwasher safe—crafted to be used, loved, and talked about!
