Meet the Maker

Hi, I’m Paula Bowers! I’ve been creating pottery for over 12 years, drawing inspiration from the rich history of South Carolina ceramics, the natural beauty of our family farm, and the music that moves me.

My work is all about joy—whimsical, functional pieces designed to be used and loved every day, yet crafted with the care and quality to last a lifetime.

How it’s Made

Each coaster begins as a slab of clay, hand-cut and shaped into the familiar form of a slice of toast. The edges are smoothed but left with just enough character to keep that organic, handmade charm. Once dried, they are bisque fired, then carefully glazed with warm golden-brown tones to mimic the look of perfectly toasted bread. Some slices feature playful “toppings” in glaze splashes, making every coaster one-of-a-kind.

The toaster holder is also slab-built, assembled by hand, and decorated with a happy smiling face and black button accents. After glazing, the set is fired again at over 2,300°F, resulting in durable, functional, and food-safe ceramics ready for everyday use.
