Hi, I’m Paula Bowers! I’ve been creating pottery for over 12 years, drawing inspiration from the rich history of South Carolina ceramics, the natural beauty of our family farm, and the music that moves me.
My work is all about joy—whimsical, functional pieces designed to be used and loved every day, yet crafted with the care and quality to last a lifetime.
How it’s Made
Each coaster in the Toasted Bagel Set is hand-cut from rolled clay slabs, then shaped and smoothed to create a sturdy base. A circular indention is pressed into the center to hold mugs or glasses securely. Once dried, each piece is bisque fired before being hand-glazed with swirls of golden and cream tones that mimic the look of a warm, toasted bagel.
The toaster holder is also slab-built, carefully assembled by hand, and decorated with a whimsical smiling face and black “buttons” for detail. After glazing, the entire set is fired again at over 2,300°F, creating a strong, food- and drink-safe finish that’s ready for daily use.
