Welcome to my newest listing. If you have been following me for a while, you know that Lazy Susans, especially the Sand Dollars have been my thing. Well, before there were Lazy Susans, there were mosaics. Years of them. Most were very large pieces or actual installations that were hard to ship. I'm happy to say that I am getting back into mosaics, the place in my heart where it all started. I'm experimenting with smaller ceramic tiles, and having so much fun! I hope you enjoy my new listings.
This is a one of a kind mosaic heart made on a wood frame This is how I make my mosaic hearts.
1. Cut the heart shape out of 1/2 inch birch wood.
2. Sand the edges.
3. Paint the wood with a sealer to waterproof it.
4. Design the pattern and attach the tiles, some hand cut.
5. Grout after drying.
6. Clean and sand again.
7. Touch up edges and paint the back for a finished look.
8. Apply grout sealer to protect the finish.
9. Add the sawtooth or wire hanger to the back.
10. Sign and number the piece.
This heart has been sold. I will make one very similar to the pictures above.
This is a one of a kind piece that will last for generations. We work hard to create quality artwork that will last for generations. This heart is made on wood that is sealed and painted. It should do well indoors or out for many years.
I've been a mosaic artist for about 26 years. I've mostly worked on large projects that would be hard to ship. I have now added these smaller art pieces to my Etsy Shop. I hope you enjoy my work. How it’s Made
Hand cut, tiles applied, grouted and a saw tooth hanger is applied.
