How it’s Made
Making Cold Process Soap:
Did you know that traditional handmade soap starts with oil? When you combine sodium hydroxide (lye) and water with oil, it creates a chemical reaction known as saponification. This process allows the lye to bond with the fats in the oils, resulting in soap.
It’s important to note that no lye is left in the soap after saponification is complete.
Once made, soaps are cured for 4 to 6 weeks on a rack.
Over this time, the soap will naturally lose water through evaporation, becoming lighter in weight. This process improves the soap’s quality and increases its longevity.
All our soap is made in small batches.
I strictly adhere to the proper fragrance usage rates for my soaps, as set forth by the International Fragrance Association. Based on these usage rates, some scents will have varying scent strengths. Commitment to IFRA guidelines guarantees safe, high-quality soaps.
