Amazing rare Blue Beryl Maxixe(.70ct,VS,Brazil ) hand set and accented with natural white Diamond(.01ctw, SI,Canada) all in 925 sterling silver engagement ring. This beautiful gemstone is cradled in 925 sterling silver with stylized hearts down the shoulders. Maxixe is a very rare form of blue beryl. In the 1900s, miners found beautiful dark blue beryl crystals in the Maxixe mine in the Paiuhy region of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Because its dark blue color wasn’t typical of beryl, Maxixe beryl created quite a stir when it appeared in the trade in 1973. Maxixe is of a different blue and chemical makeup then that of it's close cousin Aquamarine. Aquamarine as it's name suggests, is the color of water, often with hints of grey, or green. Maxixe is a richer, darker blue leaning more towards that of Sapphires, without the greys, or green hints. The last 2 pictures show the difference in color between Maxixe & Aquamarine.

I have worked & studied gemstones & jewelry design, as well as being a master chef owning my own restaurant. I was raised learning the "old ways" of making daily living items from my Grandmother using what we grew.
