About this Product

This handmade oil-tanned wallet is perfect for the minimalist who doesn't carry a lot of cash. It has three internal sleeves and one external sleeve for items you need quick access to, such as a metro card or ID. The oil-tanned nomad leather will age beautifully, developing a luster and patina that you only find with high-end, handmade wallets. The wallet is hand stitched with finely braided polyester thread, making it durable enough for everyday use.

We offer a full workmanship guarantee on the stitching for the life of the wallet. If the stitching ever frays or comes undone, you can contact us for a repair. If you need more than one, we offer quantity discounts. We can also laser etch any message, image, or initials you'd like on the wallet.

We've been using this wallet as our everyday wallet for the past three years, and it's held up great.

How it’s Made

Our handmade leather tri-fold wallet is a blend of craftsmanship, durability, and timeless design. In this article, we will take you through the meticulous process of creating this elegant and functional accessory from start to finish. Each wallet is crafted with care, ensuring a product that not only looks great but also stands the test of time.

Materials Needed

1. Leather: We use high-quality full-grain leather, known for its durability and natural beauty.

2. Thread: Durable waxed thread for stitching.

3. Tools: Cutting mat, rotary cutter, leatherworking needles, stitching awl, edge beveler, burnishing tool, and a ruler.

Step-by-Step Process

Step 1: Selecting and Cutting the Leather

• Choosing the Leather: We start by selecting the finest full-grain leather. This type of leather retains the natural marks and imperfections, giving each wallet a unique character.

• Measuring and Cutting: Using a ruler and rotary cutter, we carefully measure and cut the leather into the required pieces. For our tri-fold wallet, we cut two main pieces for the pockets and one large piece for the body.

Step 2: Preparing the Edges

• Beveling the Edges: We use an edge beveler to smooth out the edges of each leather piece. This step ensures that the edges are rounded and comfortable to handle.

• Burnishing: The edges are then burnished using a burnishing tool to achieve a polished and professional look.

Step 3: Assembling the Wallet

• Layout and Folding: We lay out the leather pieces in the tri-fold design and mark the positions for the pockets.

• Gluing: Before stitching, we apply a thin layer of leather glue to hold the pieces in place. This ensures precise alignment and easier stitching.

Step 4: Stitching

• Marking Stitch Lines: Using a stitching awl, we mark the stitch lines on the leather.

• Hand Stitching: We thread a leatherworking needle with durable waxed thread and begin hand stitching along the marked lines. Our wallets feature a traditional saddle stitch, which is known for its strength and durability.

• Finishing the Stitch: Once the stitching is complete, we tie off the thread securely and trim any excess.

Step 5: Adding Finishing Touches

• Conditioning: To keep the leather supple and protected, we apply a leather conditioner.

• Final Burnishing: We give the edges one last burnishing to ensure they are smooth and polished.

Features of Our Tri-Fold Wallet

• Compact Design: Despite its slim profile, our wallet offers ample space for cards, cash, and IDs.

• Durability: The full-grain leather and hand-stitched construction ensure that this wallet will withstand daily use and age gracefully.

• Timeless Aesthetic: The natural variations in the leather give each wallet a unique look, making it a stylish accessory for any occasion.
