About this Product
This buckle is fashioned from a mineral known as Norweigian Moonstone and is from Larvik, Norway. It is also known as Larvikite. This piece measures 3" by 2" and will fit a belt up to 13/8" in width. The stone is supported with my handmade German Silver backing. The backing is signed and dated and has the name of the stone engraved on it. This buckle has my daughter's signature because she made it as I was overseeing the work. I was teaching her how to do lapidary work. This buckle is fashioned in my beveled edge design. She did a great Job! NOTE ! German Silver is not silver but an alloy comprised of zinc, brass and nickle. I use it in place of real silver because it is stronger, less expensive and it doesn't tarnish as silver does.

How it’s Made
I have been making my buckles for approximately 45 years. I cut shape and polish all my pieces and fabricate my belt buckle backings using German silver or as it's also called nickle silver. German silver is not silver but an alloy comprised of nickle, brass, and zinc and I use it because it is stronger, less expensive and it doesn't tarnish as does silver. All my buckles take around 20 different steps to complete and the one's with silver insets take many more steps.
