About this Product
Art doesn’t have to be big to be beautiful, and it doesn’t have to be expensive either. A small colored pencil drawing such as this can make a big impact, and be kind to your budget at the same time. It would make a lovely gift for someone who loves cats. The beautiful blue door is reminiscent of those found in parts of Europe. You can feel the warmth of the sun on the stones, where the cat has found the perfect spot for a nap.

Meet the Maker
Welcome to my shop!
I knew at age three that I wanted to be an artist, though I didn't actually know what an artist was. I just knew I wanted to create pictures as beautiful as those in my storybooks. Life took me in many different directions before I was finally able to study and create art in a serious way. After working several years as a rehabilitation counselor, I made the decision to follow my passion for art and I went back to college and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. I taught part-time at a local university and also taught private and group art classes in my home studio. I enjoyed that work very much. However, recently, I decided to concentrate on creating art full-time, thus the opening of my GoImagine shop. My primary goal is to create original art that is affordable, so I’ve chosen to work on a small scale in order to accomplish that. I’ve also chosen to embrace a traditional approach—creating art entirely by hand—no mass production, no prints, no computers, no digital elements or AI, just drawing and painting by hand. Each piece that I create is a unique, original work of art.
My inspiration comes mostly from nature, but I also just love to experiment and explore styles and techniques, anything art related really. You'll find me drawing and painting in my home studio most every day, supervised by two cats who keep a watchful eye on each piece I complete.

How it’s Made
I began the work with a pencil drawing, then filled in with a single layer of pastels. I used several layers of colored pencil over the pastels to refine the color and add details. I like the tooth of the paper to be evident in a colored pencil drawing. I think it provides a sort of "history" of how the drawing came to be. So the pencil layers are not completely blended or smoothed out.
